In Windows, whenever you want to look for specific files, you can just access the Windows search feature. The problem with this tool is that it's really limited and it doesn't offer the functions which an average user may want, like extensive criteria when looking for files or folders. What's more, because it uses the indexing service for finding files faster, your computer may run slower than usual when searching for files.

To avoid these problems, you could just install and use UltraFinder. Offering the same search speed as the Windows search tool, but without using an indexing feature, UltraFinder manages to fulfill the needs of any user in matters of finding files. After installing and running the software, you will be presented with an interface that resembles the one of Windows Explorer.

In order to find files, the first step is to select the path for finding files. If you don't know what folder to select, you can just select an entire partition. Next, you should enter a part of the file's name or a word or phrase which is included inside the desired file. That's because UltraFinder can look into text files and can display all the files which contain a specific word. Optionally, you can narrow the search results by setting specific file types and also by filtering search results according to certain criteria.

After configuring all these settings, you can start the search process with a single click. Soon after the search begins, you will see your files listed, together with detailed information for each of them. Besides allowing you to look for files, UltraFinder also includes a feature for browsing and finding remote files, which are located on a FTP server. Still, in order to use this feature, you will have to fill in some details regarding the FTP server, like the username and password.
